WindEnergy Hamburg: DEHN unveils new cloud solution to improve the availability of wind turbines
Lightning events are among the key external factors affecting the operational reliability of wind turbines. In order to assess their impact reliably and plan maintenance measures in line with requirements, operators need robust data and the ability to analyse it quickly. At WindEnergy Hamburg, DEHN will present DEHNsphere, a new digital platform that provides transparency regarding lightning events and makes it easier to assess them. It uses measured data from the DEHNdetect lightning current measurement system, which records lightning events on the wind turbine itself. Lightning strikes can have significant impair the availability and efficient operation of wind turbines. In practice, there is often doubt as to what effect a specific event actually had and whether action is required. This is where robust data provides transparency. It helps assess the damage, enables transparent documentation of events and forms the basis for condition-based maintenance strategies.DEHN will be at WindEnergy Hamburg (Stand 501 in Hall B6), taking place from 22 to 25 September 2026, to demonstrate how operators can make even more targeted use of this data in future. Using real-life examples, visitors can see how lightning events are recorded, analysed and taken into account when devising appropriate operational and maintenance measures. At the trade fair, DEHN will focus on the new DEHNsphere cloud solution, which collects the recorded lightning events centrally, analyses them and provides a clear display of the relevant data. This gives operators a quick overview of recorded incidents and gives them a more in-depth understanding of their potential impact. Configurable notifications, event histories and cloud-based analytics help operators make data-driven decisions regarding inspections and maintenance and plan steps more effectively. The cloud solution also lays the foundations for integrating additional digital applications and areas of use. In future, going beyond lightning monitoring, this will unlock opportunities to centralise and evaluate data, harnessing it to ensure safe and cost-effective operation of technical systems.DEHNdetect provides the necessary data. The lightning current measurement system, developed specifically for wind turbines, records lightning events on the turbine itself and provides the relevant measurement data for analysis in DEHNsphere. The system is DNV-certified and meets the requirements of IEC 61400-24 regarding lightning monitoring for wind turbines. DEHN will also be showcasing its engineering services at the trade fair, which help operators to assess incidents and develop appropriate measures, as well as innovative ways to inspect installations using drones.

Start of Production in Piteşti – DEHN Expands Capacity for the European Market
The world is going electric. The expansion of renewable energy, the rapidly increasing number of data centers worldwide, and the growing connectivity of buildings make the electrical industry more crucial than ever. Alongside Asia and the USA, the European market is vital for DEHN. In spring 2023, the Neumarkt-based family-run company commissioned a new production facility at its Mühlhausen site. To enable greater prioritisation there and, at the same time, respond more flexibly to customer enquiries from across Europe, the company also set out to seek an additional foothold in Europe. In July 2026, productive operations commenced at the new multi-functional site in Piteşti, Romania, north-west of Bucharest. The plant focuses on the manufacture of surge protective devices, which require a high degree of manual assembly work.The newly built plant in Piteşti is the perfect addition to the existing plants in Neumarkt and Mühlhausen. Whereas high production volumes and highly automated processes dominate at those sites, the Romanian site primarily manufactures small batches of products requiringa high level of manual assembly. Just under a year after the official ground-breaking ceremony, the first surge protective devices have now rolled off the production line. Multi-functional siteFollowing an extensive search for a suitable location across Europe, Romania ultimately ticked most of the key boxes for DEHN. This south-eastern European country offers ideal location characteristics, such as good infrastructure and a ready supply of well-trained skilled workers. In future, up to 150 employees will work at the site. In addition to production and logistics, staff in HR, marketing, IT and other “shared services” will round off the multifunctional site.Strengthening the global manufacturing networkPiteşti joins the company’s global manufacturing network. Only last year, the specialist in lightning protection, surge protection and safety equipment opened a production facility in Mooresville, North Carolina, to better serve the American market from there. The new European operating location represents a key component of the company’s international strategy and enables it to respond flexibly to rising demand from European countries.

Personnel changes in the executive board – Florian Bohlmann leaves DEHN
Florian Bohlmann, CFO of DEHN SE, left the company with effect from 13 February 2026. After joining the company in 2016, he was appointed CFO of DEHN SE on 1 January 2022. Prior to this, he worked for Pfleiderer Group for 14 years, where he was head of group controlling. Over the course of nearly ten years, Mr Bohlmann has significantly advanced and shaped our finance division in numerous roles. His reputation both within and outside the company has been that of a highly professional and accomplished representative of DEHN. His financial expertise and approachable nature have distinguished him throughout the years. However, the challenges ahead now require a strategic and organisational realignment of the CFO division. The company will fill the position as soon as possible.

Quick and safe charging: DEHN presents surge protection for high power charging and fast charging posts
The expansion of the charging infrastructure for electric mobility is gaining momentum. Although there is still a long way to go before charging points are available everywhere, it is already crucial to protect these investments and ensure their uninterrupted operation. DEHN is now expanding its portfolio to include the DEHNguard M DC ACI 1250 FM, a surge arrester specially developed for use in HPCs and fast charging stations up to 1250 V. The device is also a reliable component in DC battery storage systems.Quick and easy commissioning and, ultimately, long-term reliable operation of the equipment are the main priority for operators and installers of charging stations. Surge protective devices such as the new DEHNguard M DC ACI 1250 FM are an essential part of the protection concept for these systems. With a protection level of 2.5 kV and short-circuit resistance of 100 kA, this modular Type 2 arrester is also ideal for use in battery storage systems. In addition, non-response up to 1200 V fulfils the normative requirement of IEC 61851-23. The built-in ACI technology with integrated switch-spark gap combination eliminates the need for an external back-up fuse, saving valuable space in the charging post. There is no need for complex dimensioning of back-up fuses, selectivity and connection cross-sections when designing new charging points.The pluggable modules can be replaced quickly and easily in the event of a defect. Holistic approach to sustainable business: EcoVadis honours DEHN for its commitment to sustainability
As of August 2025, DEHN SE ranks among the top 15 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis. This is confirmed by the silver medal awarded by the leading provider of global sustainability ratings. ‘We are very proud that our efforts have been acknowledged with the silver medal. For us, this is a big step in the right direction and an incentive for further successes in the area of sustainability,’ explains Dr Philipp Dehn, CEO of DEHN SE.EcoVadis' rating method is based on international sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact and ISO 26000.
