BLITZDUCTORconnect protects signalling, control and telecommunications systems for railways
Professional and durable protection concepts are the basis for ensuring that the signalling, control and communication systems for railway operations functions reliably. Protection of interlockings, level crossings, point heaters and FRMCS transmitting and receiving systems is critical.
The universal BLITZDUCTORconnect combined arrester is the ideal solution for this: different product types and device versions cover a wide range of requirements in the railway environment. BLITZDUCTORconnect in the modular version is pluggable and can be monitored remotely. The BLITZDUCTORconnect MVG 230 variant, specially developed for the railway applications, protects signalling, control and telecommunications systems e.g. in accordance with the requirements of the German railway guideline DB 819.0808. The narrow width of the two signal wires at just 6 mm should also be emphasised.
Benefits
BLITZDUCTORconnect in the modular version is pluggable and can be monitored remotely. The narrow width of only 6 mm for a pair frees up space in the switchgear cabinet. The arrester ensures that installations and systems function reliably and thereby supports the safe and punctual transport of people and goods.
Ensure system availability, optimise employee capacities, gain space – this is what the BLITZDUCTORconnect does.
Key advantages:
Easy maintenance
Optimise employee capacities: With the right remote signalling unit, you also have the option of having the status of the arresters reported directly to a higher-level control system. The active transmitter and receiver unit with passive reverse unit minimises the wiring effort during installation. The mechanical status indication always provides a full overview. Failures of individual arresters in the case of an overload can be recognised at a glance from the red inspection window.
Monitoring of up to 50 arresters
Thanks to an innovative transmitter and receiver unit: with BLITZDUCTORconnect, up to 50 arresters can be monitored with just one unit.
Simple, quick and safe installation
Whether it's installation or maintenance: both can be done without tools, meaning quickly and easily. The secR release buttons prevent the accidental removal of a neighbouring module when replacing a plug-in module. Another advantage of secR: the module is locked in firmly – even during vibrations.
Available systems
High system availability is of top priority for seamless workflows in the railway infrastructure. After all: the show must go on – even if an arrester is defective and needs replacing. For example, a level crossing system will remain functional even if an arrester fails. The fail-open function separates overloaded protection modules from the signal circuit, and rail systems stay functional.

BLITZDUCTORconnect protects according to German Ril 819.0808
Maximising signal availability and minimising downtimes – these are the most important tasks of surge protection measures in the railway environment. According to Ril 819.0808, surge protection concepts for signalling, control and telecommunications systems must fulfil very specific requirements. An important requirement: SPDs must not impair the signalling technology in any way. This means that arresters must be removed or plugged in without influencing the signal circuit. BLITZDUCTORconnect MVG is impedance-neutral. This means that the signal circuit is not affected when pulling or plugging. This arrester therefore fulfils the requirement "non-interaction with signalling technology" in accordance with Ril 819.0808.
Dual protection against surges
Ril 819.0808 requires a protective circuit that protects the sensitive interlocking electronics from transient lightning and overvoltages and controls interference from the overhead contact line.
Circuit design of surge protective devices (SPDs) in signalling, control and telecommunications systems
The surge protective device basically consists of a series connection of varistor and gas discharge tube between the signal wires and earth. In addition to the nominal voltage, the continuous and short-time interference voltage must also be taken into account. The combination of BLITZDUCTORconnect and DEHNbloc Maxi is the optimum solution for safely controlling these. Transient lightning and surges are controlled, as is the influence on the overhead contact line.
Your big advantage: maximum space saving thanks to the width of just 6 mm per pair of the BLITZDUCTORconnect devices.
