The challenge
Reliable, permanently functional and safe – these are the top priorities for customers and operators when it comes to charging infrastructure. Customers want to be able to charge anytime and anywhere; operators want a profitable, secure system and satisfied customers.
However, it is precisely these requirements that are at considerable risk due to the rapidly increasing threat of lightning strikes and surges. Damage to the charging station can occur in the event of direct lightning strikes, but also in the event of nearby and distant lightning strikes and grid-induced overvoltages.These damage power stacks or, in the case of charging, even the electric vehicle. This has serious technical and financial consequences.
The solution
Alpitronic installs the tested quality solution DEHNvap EMOB in its hyperchargers. The combined arrester specially designed for charging infrastructure with protective effect Type 1 + 2 + 3 can be used universally and offers maximum protection against lightning currents and surges.
With its extremely fast response characteristics, residual energy is limited to <0.5 joules even at maximum discharge. This is ensured by the RAC spark gap technology, which limits the mains follow current. In practice, this means that the typically installed terminal equipment varistors are not overloaded. Even the most sensitive electronics are thus securely protected.
Another advantage: DEHNvap EMOB is used in the Alpitronic system without an additional backup fuse – this saves space during installation.
For additional copper-based data and information lines, such as Ethernet or RS485, universal solutions such as DEHNpatch or BLITZDUCTORconnect complete the reliable protection concept.
